week 6

Week 6 Seminar

In today's seminar (09/03/2017), we were given excel worksheets to work on. We learnt how to use the LOOKUP and VLOOPUP functions using Excel. Although, at first glance it looked challenging and I didn't completely understand how to do it properly but slowly with time I was getting the hang of it and the help sheet that our teacher gave us really helped as it explained in detail how to work out the task. After, finishing the excel work, we were asked to sit in our groups and discuss about our future plans and what each individual will be doing in the team. The teacher came around to each group to check on us and when the teacher had come to our group, we explained to the teacher how much we had done. One of our team members interviewed the manager of the business we were working on as a group, and the manager did not want to be recorded and therefore there was no proof that this interview had taken place. Our teacher suggested that we get some type of evidence from the manager to show that we interviewed the manager. We agreed getting a signed confirmation from the manager would be the best option. We were given specific tasks to do before this Tuesday, as we are planning to meet during our free time at the library to discuss how much work each one of us has done and to also put together all the work and research we all have collected.
In the lecture we had on Monday (05/03/18), the lecturer discussed and taught us on the topic 'Cloud Computing & relational database'. The lecturer covered on advanced cloud applications such as: CDNs and Green computing. The lecturer also covered relational databases which included learning how to organise data and learning how to create query, report, etc in Microsoft Office.
