The topic of his lecture was 'Sustainability & Business in the 21st Century'. He started of his presentation by introducing himself and then proceeded to do a quick and fun quiz to test our knowledge. He then showed us a Video of Malala introducing the world's largest lesson and it was how to take care of our planet. It was interesting as it was engaging. He also discussed and talked more in detail and showed a variety of articles regarding sustainability. For our group work, we were more prepared than last week and we practiced more for our presentation and our aim was to make sure that our presentation lasted longer than 12-13 minutes. We practiced as we wanted to conduct our presentation on Tuesday (20/04/18) because some of our members weren't free to do the presenta...

Week 9

Week 9  As it was the Easter holidays, there was no lectures or seminars but our lecturer did explain that we all were expected to meet during our holiday to work on our group work. As most of our team members had a part-time job and also considering that some members live further away than others, it was hard to come up with a date where all the team members are available. But we agreed on the 12th of April and we stuck to it. On 12th of April during our Easter holidays, as there was no class we decided to meet up in the library during our free time to go over all our answers and add any last bits that we have. As expected everyone turned up on time and we went through each of our work helping each other to edit or tweek their work where necessary. We worked on the presentation and the layout on this day as well. We all were working together and effectively to get this done.

Week 8

Week 8 In today's lecture (19/03/18), the lecturer taught about 'Business Models and strategies in a digital world'. The lecturer also made us watch a video about the 5 trends shaping the future of work and combining all five of these trends to force organisation to change the way they think about how the work in an organisation gets done. The five trends being : globalization, mobility, changing demographics, new behaviors, and mobility. The lecturer also spoke about features of an organisation as well as the 5 types of organisational structures and the strategies. The different types of level in an organisation was also discusses. The lecturer spoke clearly and I was able to understand it clearly. In our seminar (23/03/18), our teacher went through Excel exercises again and went through Scenario exercises and taught us how to do the scenario summary. Although, at first it was quite difficult to keep up with all the numbers and the instructions that we had to do in...

week 7

Week 7  In lesson we did some more excel worksheets. We were able to learn how to workout the scenario summaries. It took a while to get the hang of it, but once I understood how to do it I was able to clearly do it without any difficulties. We did multiple exercises using the What-if analysis. We did exercises on the family budget on Excel using the scenario manager tool. It was particularly interesting to learn this as I wasn't aware that these type of tools were available on Excel and it was great to learn more and gain more knowledge on Excel. Having used Excel a lot over the past years it was exciting to learn new things and not just creating spreadsheets using the addition and subtraction methods. In lecture, the lecturer taught about 'Preparing and Delivering a Presentation'. The lecturer went through in detail the do's and don's when delivering a presentation. It was very useful and easy to understand as the lecturer made sure to explain everything ...

week 6

Week 6 Seminar In today's seminar (09/03/2017), we were given excel worksheets to work on. We learnt how to use the LOOKUP and VLOOPUP functions using Excel. Although, at first glance it looked challenging and I didn't completely understand how to do it properly but slowly with time I was getting the hang of it and the help sheet that our teacher gave us really helped as it explained in detail how to work out the task. After, finishing the excel work, we were asked to sit in our groups and discuss about our future plans and what each individual will be doing in the team. The teacher came around to each group to check on us and when the teacher had come to our group, we explained to the teacher how much we had done. One of our team members interviewed the manager of the business we were working on as a group, and the manager did not want to be recorded and therefore there was no proof that this interview had taken place. Our teacher suggested that we get some type of evidence...

Week 5

Reflection on week 5 Seminar On the 2nd of March 2018, our seminar on management and information system went well. We looked at a new topic today but it was within Excel. We looked at how to work the 'IF & Nested-IFs Function'.The formulas that were taught today wasn't too complicated. the teacher gave us a worksheet with step-by-step instructions on it to help us do the formulas correctly. The worksheet wasn't full of questions but rather it was more of an instruction sheet advising us on how to work the functions and what not to do. The worksheet gave us clear instructions on the functions work and helped us understand that with a minor error the whole result would be incorrect. The worksheet also contained examples of do's and don'ts. The worksheet would give instructions to do it incorrectly so that we can understand how the result will look like when it's incorrect and also gives the information on how to fix the errors. On 26th of February, ...

Week 4

Reflection on the week 4 Seminar On Friday the 23rd of February, our seminar on Management and Information system went well. We worked on Excel exercises and were taught how to solve problems and also gave us the opportunity to do some practice questions by our self. The excel worksheets and the tasks that we had to complete were very helpful and it also increased my knowledge on the different types of formulas we can use in Excel and it also helped me gain more confidence as to how to use different techniques to work out the formulas for specific tasks. Personally, at first, I did find it difficult as if you make a tiny error, then your results would be incorrect and you would have to start all over again. Although it was confusing, the teacher helped us and went through each tasks with a step-by-step instruction which was easy to follow and it was less confusing as to what to type and where to type your formulas, etc. With the help of the teacher and my fellow classmates we ...
